Description: Cutting across the Zambezi River, bridging the countries of Zambia and Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls is the largest waterfall in the world. This awesome force of nature divides two natural worlds — the tranquil meandering river above the cascade and the raging abyss of the gorge below.
The upper river is idyllic, running shallow through sandstone hills and meandering around islands and reed-beds where elephants, lions, hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, zebra, antelope and otters thrive. In a single vertical drop, the river plummets twice the height of Niagara Falls into the wild waters and heavy spray of the narrow gorge, where 35 different raptor species rear their young, feasting on a glut of fish. Between the two worlds, the treacherous cliffs and rocky outcrops are covered in thick, mossy rainforest, fed by the constant mists, and home to baboons, monkeys, mongoose and parrots.

Tăind peste râul Zambezi, adevărat pod între Zambia şi Zimbabwe, Cascada Victoria este cea mai mare cascadă din lume. Această minunată forţă a naturii divide două lumi naturale - râul liniştit plin de meandre de deasupra cascadei şi abisul asurzitor din dreptul cheilor de dedesubt.
Râul de sus este idilic, de mică adâncime, curgând printre dealuri de gresie şi şerpuind în jurul insulelor şi plaurilor de stuf, în care prosperă elefanţi, lei, hipopotami, crocodili, bivoli, zebre, antilope şi vidre. Dintr-o singură cădere verticală, râul depăşeşte de două ori înălţimea Cascadei Niagara, iar în apele sălbatice din cheile înguste, ce împroaşcă o multitudine de stropi grei, vieţuiesc 35 de specii diferite de păsări răpitoare care-şi cresc puii, ghiftuindu-se cu peşte. Între cele două lumi, alimentate de umezeala vaporilor ce formează o ceaţă permanentă, stâncile perfide şi aflorimentele stâncoase sunt acoperite de un strat gros de muşchi şi de o vegetaţie luxuriantă, adevărat cămin pentru babuini, maimuţe, papagali şi manguste.
