Comparing the Japanese bow to another great war bow, the English Longbow we put them both through scientific tests to examine the specialties of each. Using stunning high speed footage we reveal their power and precision and ask what makes the Yumi so special.

Documentarul „Samurai Bow (Arcul Samuraiului)” explorează frumuseţea, reveria, dar şi violenţa ce învăluiesc prima armă a samurailor, „Yumi”. Printr-o stupefiantă şi dramatică reconstituire, vom revela vechea „Cale a Samuraiului” şi vom afla cât de mult putea duce la evitarea războiului, un arc avevărat, în mâinile unui maestru autentic.
Înfăţişându-vă cel mai respectat maestru al tragerii cu arcul, Maestrul Ogasawara, îi vom vizita şcoala sa ecvestră de arcaşi şi-i vom vedea discipolii, antrenându-se intens şi cu dedicaţie, apoi îi vom urmări fiul pregătindu-se să ţintească din galop, în cadrul ceremoniei Yabusame.
Comparând arcul japonez, cu un alt mare arc de război „Lungul Arc Englez”, le vom pune împreună la un test ştiinţific, pentru a examina particularităţile fiecăruia. Surprinzându-le acţiunea şi efectele, prin tehnica fotografierii extrem de rapide, le vom dezvălui puterea şi precizia, şi vom şti ce îl face pe arcul japonez Yumi, atât de special.
Maeştri artizani, experţi în arte marţiale şi experţi istorici, se vor reuni în a ne povesti istoria acestei nobile arme, de la trecutul său sângeros, şi până la statutul respectat de astăzi, în „Arcul Samuraiului”... |

PS: O înregistrare a acestui documentar (TVrip) preluat de pe National Geographic cu subtitrare în limba română, mai compactă decât cea făcută de mine, o puteţi găsi mai jos, sub numele de Arcul Japonez (Yumi).
Menţiune: Deocamdată nu am depistat referirile la acest documentar pe site-ul oficial (National Geographic), nici pe PBS.NOVA. Dacă reuşeşte altcineva, îl rog să mă completeze.
