Pete Davidson îl interpretează pe Scott Carlin in filmul The King of Staten Island (2020), un tânăr care trăiește acasă alături de mama sa Margie (Marisa Tomei). El nu arată semne ca ar vrea sa se mute. Scott atribuie lipsa lui de direcție traumei din copilărie de a-și pierde tatăl, pompier, la vârsta de șapte ani.

Cu toate acestea, cu sora sa (Maude Apatow) plecată la facultate, Margie nu pare să se grăbească să il dea afara si sa ramana singura. În timp ce mama lui inchide un ochi asupra situatiei, Scott pășește pe apa într-o situatie care ii poate crea probleme multe.

El se bucură de o relație întâmplătoare cu o prietenă Kelsey (Bel Powley). El fumează marihuana cu prietenii săi și îi folosește ca cobai pentru a-și testa abilitățile in tatuaj. Mâna lui Scott cu pistolul de tatuaj este extrem de groaznică. Cu toate acestea, aptitudinile lui Scott pentru tatuaj și idiotie se ciocnesc în favoarea mamei sale. După ce i-a oferit unui copil de nouă ani ceva tatuaje, tatăl băiatului vine dupa el.
