Un documentar de la care am avut mari aşteptări... Dar mi le-a depăşit cu mult... Având pasiunea cristalelor, auzisem, bineînţeles de peştera Naica, aşa că reclama unui documentar, m-a pus pe jar. Imaginea filmată cristalelor gigant (erau magnifice şi în fotografii) m-a lăsat fără glas. La fel şi epopeea cercetătorilor îmbrăcaţi precum cosmonauţii - 120 grade Fahrenheit şi peste 80% umiditate, nu le-a permis altă alternativă - aventuraţi contra-cronometru în măruntaiele muntelui, pentru a studia o minune geologică. Am fost uluită de uriaşa îndrăzneală de a pompa afară un lac de apă clocotită, suprasaturată de cristale de ghips (creatoarea cristalelor), pentru a putea pătrunde acolo. Singura concluzie: a fost mult prea scurt.

Hidden deep beneath the surface of the Earth is one of the greatest natural marvels on the planet: a giant crystal cave with crystals up to 36 feet long and weighing 55 tons. But this scorching cavern could kill humans after just 15 minutes of exposure. - The giant crystals found in the caves at Naica are softer than a human fingernail. - The largest crystal found at Naica is 500,000 years old. - The stunning crystal pillars are made from the same common mineral as drywall – it's called gypsum. - The Naica cave's deadly heat comes from the depths of the Earth. Naica sits on a set of fault lines. A magma chamber a mile and a half down warms the water that flows throughout the mountain. - The Naica principle cave "Cueva de Los Cristales" is 45°C and 100% humidity. - The Naica facility pumps 16,000 gallons of water per minute out of the mine and runs 24-7. - The water pumped from the Naica mine formed a lake in the arid Chihuahua desert and is also used to irrigate a golf course. - Naica is one of the most productive lead mines in the world, and a huge supplier of the world's silver as well. - The Naica cave actuality footage was shot on solid-state memory HD video cameras (tape-less) wrapped in plastic bags and pre-heated for three hours prior to entering the cave. - The Naica Project team created a stop-motion robot and fitted it with a Nikon digital still camera powered by a custom software to capture beauty-shot sequences of the cave with 10-megapixel resolution.
Mi se pare, sau oamenii acestia sunt precum Tom Degetelul calare pe cristalele acestea? Din cite stiu, cele mai mari cristale de cuartz, cristalele gigant sau asa-numitele "cristale maestru" abia au 1-2 metri lungime, si peste 1 tona... Dar acestea sunt uriase, seamana cu florile de mina, dar sunt enorme... Parca am vazut ceva similar in filmul "The Core". Sunt adevarate? Exista pe Pamant asa ceva?
Din moment ce există fotografii şi un documentar, desigur! Dar nu sunt cristale de cuarţ, ci de gips. În geoda respectivă, aflată la 200m sub o mină de argint şi deasupra unui vulcan stins, apa freatică este clocotită, determinând formarea unei soluţii suprasaturate de săruri de gips, ceea ce a dus, în cca. 500.000 de ani, la formarea acestor neobişnuite cristale gigantice de gips. Două dintre link-urile postate duc la site-ul unui geolog care dă detalii mai amănunţite (inclusiv fotografii), asupra diferenţelor dintre cele 2 tipuri de cristale.
Cristalele maestru de care aminteşti, din cuarţ într-adevăr, sunt diferite de cele prezentate în peştera Naica. Iată mai jos un link despre cristalele gigantice de cuarţ din mina Coleman (SUA): http://www.pyradyne.com/ Deşi în cele câteva rânduri explicative, autorul afirmă că această mină acum epuizată, ar fi unica sursă de asemenea formaţiuni, totuşi există şi în Brazilia, mult mai transparente, nu ştiu dacă de acest calibru. Dacă găsesc vreun link util, îl voi posta şi pe acela! Dedesubt sunt fotografiile a 2 cristale-maestru, culoarea roşie a primului datorându-se iluminării cu o sursă laser.
