Nu am filmul "In ginocchio da te (1964)", dar o sa ma uit in ce forma poate fi gasit pe Internet. Cit despre celalat, este probabil titlul romanesc al unui film cu acelasi actor, Gianni Morandi, dar nu il pot recunoaste.

Intr-o calitate nu foarte buna, un film de exceptie pentru momentul in care a fost realizat: superproductia regizorului egiptean Youssef Chahine, poate cel mai mare regizor arab al momentului (a murit anul trecut, la Cairo, in virsta de 81 de ani). Filmul nu a iesit niciodata pe DVD (iar cind s-a intimplat, s-a intimplat sa iasa fara subtitrare in limba engleza ori in franceza, cu toate ca Franta este tara care a cumparat cele mai multe productii ale acestui regizor, laureindu-l de altfel la Cannes anii trecuti). Exista un SVCD (ce vremuri!) la o calitate mai mult decit indoielnica, continind versiunea subtitrata in engleza a acestui film, SVCD care a fost reconvertit de mine in Divx. Sper sa apreciati calitatea ori, daca nu, efortul.
Filmul este prezentat din punctul arab de vedere al istoriei momentului: in anul 1187 Saladin recupereaza Ierusalimul din mina crestinilor, lucru care duce la formarea unei aliante crestine si la finantarea celei de-a treia cruciade. O lupta care, datorita fortei si tacticilor lui Saladin, va esua, si europenii vor fi siliti sa incheie un armistitiu rusinos pentru ei. Chiar daca povestea nu ne convine, cred ca filmul este un material interesant care prespun ca va suscita interes.

Din ciclul filmelor blanoase, cu subiecte venite tocmai den Jamaica, cred ca acesta a facut cea mai mare cariera la Hollywood – adica a adus cele mai mari incasari. Nici „The harder they come” cu Jimmy Cliff, nici „Rockers” cu Desmond Dekker din anii ’70, nici „Cool runnings” din anii ’90 n-au produs un succes echivalent. Cred ca la originea acestui lucru stau combinatia de comedie/actiune pe care „Mighty Quinn” o aduce, peisajul de Jamaica, prezenta lui Denzel Washington (aflat in plina ascensiune in momentul respectiv) si faptul ca pentru prima data jamaicanii apar si in alte ipostaze decit in acelea de fumatori inveteratzi de ganja sau paraziti notorii.
Pe scurt, Denzel interpreteaza rolul unui politist (sef de post, mai curind) dintr-o statiune jamaicana, pus in fata unui caz de crima in care suspectul este cel mai bun prieten al sau, Maubee. El trebuie sa faca fata presiunilor venite din partea guvernatorului local si a latifundiarilor albi din zona, care vor prinderea si condamnarea lui Maubee in timpul cel mai scurt. Pe parcurs vom face cunostinta cu farmecul local: 1. un drum (national) pe care traseul cu masina se face intr-un singur sens pina la o anumita ora si in sens invers pina la o alta ora, din pricina ingustimii 2. alcool in combinatie cu chistoace de tigara + alte chestii 3. ganja si fumatorii profesionisti care, in pauzele de tigari, baga cite-o bucata muzicala productie proprie 4. reggae de la mama lui.
Filmul, vazut pe vremuri pe Filmnet, l-am revazut cu placere acum o saptamina. Vizionare placuta!

Delirious gothic fairytale with Janzurova playing both the roles of 'good' and 'bad' sister in this adaptation of Alexandr Grin's Edwardian-set novel. Tom Hutchinson has called it 'living Aubrey Bearsdley', which captures perfectly the ornate costume and set design, but not the hallucinatory Hammer-like atmospherics and the drenched colour.
