"Muntii Albastri" e un film al copilariei mele. Intre virsta de 10 si 12 ani cred ca l-am vazut de vreo trei ori. Rula adesea in cinematografe, si chiar daca nu intelegeam foarte bine substratul povestii, ma fascina absurdul acesteia.
Pe scurt, e vorba de un tip care, prin Rusia (Georgia, mai exact) anilor '80, scrie o carte despre care e convins ca este romanul vietii sale. Bate la masina manuscrisul in "x" copii, cu care se prezinta la o editura. Editura insa are toate caracteristicile institutiilor de stat din comunismul acelor vremi: cu formalitati infinite, cu stereotipuri idioate, cu functionari smecheri sau derecerbrati. Manuscrisul este preluat, autorul primind asigurarea ca va fi citit imediat. Cu toate acestea...
Imi aduc aminte, copil fiind, cum rideam cu gura pina la urechi privind succesiunea anotimpurilor, birocratia infinita, depresia autorului, smecheria amestecata cu stupiditate a oamenilor care devenisera niste unelte ale sistemului, niste mecanisme stricate si repetitive. Nici azi, dupa aproape douazeci si cinci de ani, filmul nu si-a pierdut din farmec si din umor. Nu stiu daca e la fel de amuzant, dar e la fel de actual. Pentru ca o lume absurda se mai poate schimba, dar numai in limitele absurdului sau. Logica tot n-are sa devina.

Oraşul Napoli tocmai e eliberat de trupele americane. Īn aceste vremuri tulburi, femeile se prostituează, mamele īşi vānd copiii iar prizonierii germani valorează cāt greutatea lor īn aur. Această frescă se vrea a fi obiectivă, să dezvăluie adevărul crud, evenimente tragice ale acestui război al nebunilor. Totodată, filmul se vrea o mărturie zguduitoare a īntālnirii dintre două culturi diferite: cea anglo-saxonă, a cuceritorilor, şi cea latină, a īnvinşilor. Un film ce se constituie īntr-o mărturie care nu va lăsa pe nimeni indiferent.
