Jeanne este o femeie atragatoare, careia nu-i lipseste nimic: este scriitoare, casatorita si are doi copii. Intr-o zi in casa ei incep sa se petreaca lucruri ciudate pe care numai ea le observa si nu le impartaseste nimanui, fiindu-i frica sa nu fie considerata nebuna. Si cum raul nu vine niciodata singur propriul ei corp incepe sa sufere modificari, lucru care iarasi nu este observat de nimeni. Ea incearca sa comunice familiei temerile sale, insa ei considera ca e vorba doar de o situatie tensionanta, creata de apropiata aparitie a urmatoarei sale carti. Totusi ea simte ca ceva foarte profund i se intampla si simte o nevoie napraznica sa mearga in Italia sa gaseasca o femeie care-i seamana izbitor, poza careia o vazuse din intamplare. Acolo Jeanne se transforma complet...
