The Philanthropist este o dramă īn opt părţi produsă pentru postul american NBC care relatează aventurile unui playboy miliardar care se transformă peste noapte īn... filantrop. Teddy Rist este un om de afaceri de succes care iubeşte banii, femeile si puterea. Īn timp ce vizitează un oraş din Nigeria el salvează un băieţel īn timpul unor inundaţii. Această īntāmplare īl face să-şi schimbe complet viaţa. Se hotărăşte să-şi dedice viaţa şi resursele financiare pentru a-i ajuta pe cei nevoiaşi. Acţiunile sale nu au un scop pur umanitar ci reprezintă şi o modalitate de a-şi curăţa sufletul de demonii care au īnceput să-l urmărească imediat dupa moartea iubitului său fiu. Rist, un om care are totul dar care nu poate simţi nimic, ştie că pericolul şi riscul īl vor face să se simtă viu, aşa că va face absolut orice pentru a-şi atinge obiectivele!
