În această comedie pentru toată familia, Walter (Haley Joel Osment) e un baiat timid și tocilar care se apropie de adolescență si a carui mama impulsiva decide sa-l lase pe timpul verii cu unchii sai excentrici, Hub (Robert Duvall) si Garth (Michael Caine). Walter nu e foarte fericit ca a fost abandonat in mijlocul Texas-ului cu doi batrani, in timp ce Hub si Garth nu sunt nici ei prea multumiti ca trebuie sa naseasca un pusti, mai ales unul care nu e obisnuit cu vanatul, pescuitul sau trasul cu arma. Atunci cand Walter afla o barfa locala despre trecutul salbatic si dubios al unchilor sai, incepe sa puna cateva intrebari. Chiar daca celor doi nu le convine ca baietelul isi baga nasul in trecutul lor, pe masura ce incep sa depene povesti despre aventurile lor din tinerete, se trezesc ca-si doresc din nou putina adrenalina in vietile lor. In curand, Walter devine un complice semi-benevol al batranilor sai gardieni care vor sa redestepte in ei spiritul salbatic, impulsiv al tineretii. Secondhand Lions a fost produs in parte de binecunoscuta casa de efecte speciale Digital Domani, care a contribuit la fabricarea secventelor de flashback.
