Al doilea film din seria Batman a avut incasari fabuloase in valoare de 163 milioane de dolari, figurand in topul primelor celor mai vizionate 20 creatii cinematografice din toate timpurile.

Aceasta superproductie il readuce in prim plan pe Batman (jucat de acelasi Michael Keaton), eroul inaripat al orasului Gotham care se confrunta acum cu cel mai mare terorist de pe planeta. Danny DeVito este interpretul magistral al rolului Pinguinului, cel care ameninta sa distruga intregul oras cu o arma cumplita. Batman are de infruntat, pe langa armata de raufacatori a Pinguinului, si avansurile unei diabolice femei-pisica, hotarata sa-l distruga pe salvatorul orasului Gotham. Senzuala femeie-pisica (Michelle Pfeiffer) vrea sa-l faca pe Batman sa se indragosteasca de ea si sa-l subjuge, dar Batman scapa de sub vraja ei si se intoarce in oras pentru a dejuca planurile perfidului Pinguin.

Filmul s-a bucurat de un succes imens fiind la data aparitiei sale o lovitura de dimensiuni planetare.
