Comments:X-Men VS Streetfighter!
Ahh, it was the first real meld of Marvel and Capcom, and boy was it nice. What makes me love this game so much is the fact that it is basic...and yet advanced at the same time. It still compliments the original gameplay ideas and underlining mechanics as SF II, but there is more now. There is more, you can call in your partner when in a jam, you can use a double team special to really shake things up, but you can still play it like an old Street Fighter. It can be played just like SF II if you would like. It's got the raw combo basis as an early SF, thats another thing I like, and when I say that I mean almost all the combos you pull off have to be a sequence of different buttons. You want a 3-hit, so you press three different buttons. Although this does make it a little challenging and possibly a nuisance to a modern SF player coming from something like Marvel VS Capcom 2 where one has no problem pulling off a 4 or so hit combo using 1 button. With this slight encouragement to try a little harder there is definitely a bigger reward involved. IMO, I find far more joy pulling of a nice air combo rather than connecting multiple hyper combos or doing 2 at once. There is more satisfaction with this game than in almost every other Street Fighter after it. As soon as the Japanese release of Marvel Vs Streetfighter(a nice mix of a soon to be marvel vs capcom and it's former title X-Men VS Streetfighter), I found that it was the start of the one button combos that evolved into the Marvel Vs Capcom combo system, and after that, I had never seen another cross over fighter by Capcom that mirrored the style of X-Men VS Streetfighter.
And that is probably why it is my favorite, because it is the most advanced, basic SF thats also a Cross Over, out there. It's an all around great game.
