A mischievous young boy, Tom Sawyer (Jonathan Taylor Thomas),witnesses a murder by the deadly Injun Joe. Tom becomes friends with Huckleberry Finn (Brad Renfro), a boy with no future and no family. Tom has to choose between honoring a friendship or honoring an oath because the town alcoholic is accused of the murder. Tom and Huck go through several adventures trying to retrieve evidence.
O ecranizare Walt Disney Pictures a indragitului roman al lui Mark Twain, Aventurile lui Tom Sawyer. In 1840, doi pusti poznasi, prieteni la catarama, Tom Sawyer si Huckleberry Finn, dau peste cap viata linistita a unui orasel din Missouri. Totusi, baietii intra intr-un bucluc si mai mare atunci cand, intr-o noapte, vad cum indianul Joe omoara un barbat. Desi initial cei doi prieteni fac un juramant al tacerii, Tom dezvaluie identitatea ucigasului pentru a salva un om inocent de la inchisoare pe viata. Dar Joe reuseste sa fuga de politie si pleaca dupa Huck, Tom si iubita acestuia, Becky Thatcher. Excitantul climat al filmului ii gaseste pe tinerii intr-o pestera sinistra, confruntandu-se cu teribilul ucigas.
