A 14th century Crusader returns to a homeland devastated by the Black Plague. A beleaguered church, deeming sorcery the culprit of the plague, commands the two knights to transport an accused witch to a remote abbey, where monks will perform a ritual in hopes of ending the pestilence. A priest, a grieving knight, a disgraced itinerant and a headstrong youth who can only dream of becoming a knight join a mission troubled by mythically hostile wilderness and fierce contention over the fate of the girl. When the embattled party arrives at the abbey, a horrific discovery jeopardises the knight’s pledge to ensure the girl fair treatment, and pits them against an inexplicably powerful and destructive force.

În vremuri de mult uitate, într-un ținut devastat de războaie, ultimii Cruciați se întorc acasă, pentru a-și regăsi pământurile pustiite de ciumă. Cardinalul (Christopher Lee – Lord of the Rings) e convins că groaznica molimă este un blestem al iadului, adus asupra oamenilor de către vrăjitoarea cea neagră. Ea vede slăbiciunile ascunse adânc în inimile tuturor. Și ceea ce vede, folosește împotriva lor. Behmen (Nicolas Cage – National Tresure, Knowing, Ghost Rider), un erou al cruciadelor, împreună cu Felson (Ron Perlman - Hellboy), tovarăsul său de arme, sunt aleși să o ducă pe strania femeie la o mănăstire izolată, unde călugării, printr-un străvechi ritual, vor îndepărta blestemul.
Alături de un escroc, un tânăr aspirant la rangul de cavaler, un războinic încrâncenat rămas fără familie și un preot naiv, Behmen și Felson pornesc într-o călătorie înțesată de pericole. Abilitățile și curajul le sunt puse la grele încercări, pe măsură ce descoperă secretul întunecat al fetei și realizează că se luptă cu o forță terifiantă, care are puterea de a determina soarta lumii. O forță condusă de întuneric, aflată în slujba morții și a distrugerii. Și pentru a salva omenirea, acești războinici trebuie să treacă prin iad.
Realizat de o echipă cu un palmares impresionant, regizorul Dominic Sena (Gone in Sixty Seconds, Swordfish), producătorul Charles Roven (The Dark Knight, Get Smart) și cei mai buni specialiști în efecte speciale (Fast & Furious; Vantage Point; X-Men: The Last Stand; Rush Hour 1, 2 & 3; Predators; Max Payne; The International, Cold Mountain; Robin Hood, The Illusionist), Anotimpul vrajitoarei este un thriller supranatural de proporții epice.
