System Suite 10 Professional Test/Review
1. Installation - The program is very easy to install, it does warn you during installation that if you enable the active virus/spyware detection feature and you have another virus program already installed and running on your system, you could run into trouble. Two virus programs on the same PC is usually a serious conflict as both programs will see each other as a virus. So choose carefully during install.
2. User Interface - The user interface is very straight forward, the "home" tab shows you immediately the current state of your system. After installing this program on a newly installed Windows XP SP2 system, the "System Protection" and "System Health" indicators immediately reveal trouble with this PC.
3. One-Click Solutions - By clicking on the "One-Click Solutions" button the program displays 5 quick solutions wizards that you can use to start troubleshooting or optimizing your system with. The first option, labeled "Comprehensive" addresses each aspect covered by the other 4 solutions wizards and they are "Protect", "Optimize", "Clean up" and "Fix up". Use any one of these to quickly scan your system and fix any problem.
4. Maintenance - The program has just about everything a PC needs, including a registry cleaner, process management, encryption tools and duplicate files detection. The system protection area contains the Personal Firewall and Antivirus and Anti Spyware that can be enabled to total protection. Up to the hour updates are handled by Avanquest software to take care of threats.
The maintenance area is where you'll find 47 different tools you can use to do an array of functions to protect and optimize your PC. The "Zip" area is a great bonus to this already benefit laden suite of utilities, create, extract and convert zip files with System Suite.
The "Protection" area has both antivirus and anti-spyware utilities which must be enabled for real-time protection. There is also a Firewall application that can be enabled to shield yourself from intrusion.
Again, word of caution, if you already have an antivirus installed and running on your system you should either uninstall it or disable the "Active Protection" built into the System Suite program to avoid running into conflicts.
