During WW II, the United States goverment produced literally thousands of films. Though many were intended for the average GI, others were considered too sensitive for general viewing. Classified or Confidential films covered an ennormous range of subjects, and while most concerned the procescution fo war, other matters by todays standards are trivial and by no means a threat to national security, were also regarded as "Confidential." It wasn't until years later that many of these films were declassified. "This film is Confidential" features many such films...
• Bombing Of Cassino - Cassino, Italy was the scene of the bloodiest of the Western Allies' struggles with the German Wehrmacht during the Second World War.
• South Pacific Action - Air superiority was crucial to the war in the Pacific, and the establishment of airfields for land based aircraft played a central role in strategic planning.
• Invasion - With Allied forces ashore after the D-Day invasion, the establishment of airfields on the continent was vital in sustaining the campaign.
• Attacks Against Italy - During the advance on Rome from southern Italy, enemy installations were continually harassed by Allied aircraft.
• Fighter Kills On D-Day - Gun sight aiming point cameras record fighter activity over occupied France on June 6, 1944.
• Attacks Against Europe - From their bases in England, B-17 formations strike deep into the heart of the German homeland.
