Plot:The early 1900's with its Mann-Act (disallowing women to be transported across State lines for immoral reasons) brings a married man to devise a scheme for taking his upper-class girlfriend away with him... he simply has her marry his unmarried buddy. However, it doesn't take very long before both men start laying claim to her affection... until, that is, she's about to be cut out of her parent's fortune. So, a new scheme is devised, which only adds to their problems, as well as to the sly whimsy of this film.

In timpul anilor 1920, in Statele Unite, “Legea Mann” interzicea transportarea femeilor peste granitele statului in “scopuri imorale”.
Prin urmare, Nick, nerabdator sa fuga in California cu iubita lui Freddie, aranjeaza ca aceasta sa se casatoreasca cu cu prietenul lui, Oscar, pana cand divortul lui Nick se va pronunta.
Oscar este de acord sa se casatoreasca cu mostenitoarea bogata, incantat de avantajele financiare pe care le va obtine.
Nimeni un prevedea insa ca acest simplu aranjament financiar se va transforma intr-un triunghi amoros!
In cele din urma, cel mai simplu mod in care Oscar si Nick pot profita de pe urma averii lui Freddie, in afara de a se ucide reciproc, este sa o faca disparuta pe mostenitoare iar averea s-o imparta jumatate-jumatate.
Oare dorinta lor de imbogatire se va dovedi mai puternica decat atractia pe care amandoi o simt pentru Freddie?
