Call of Duty puts players in the shoes of a foot soldier in the American, British, and Russian armies during the Second World War. These soldiers aren’t the one-man armies of other games; these soldiers are just another cog in the war machine.

Call Of Duty II
Call of Duty 2 lets players experience four individual soldier stories as they overcome insurmountable odds in multiple campaigns. Players have the freedom to follow each of the four storylines through for the ultimate character-driven experience, or they can engage in the historic battles chronologically for quick hitting action. Along with the new missions, the game features an enhanced engine, advanced AI, and even more authenticity than before.

Call Of Duty IV – Modern Warfare
The original Call of Duty set the bar awfully high for war-based shooters, and very rarely has one been able to surpass it. The series has maintained its momentum, pumping out new entries to the franchise and winning substantial acclaim as the top series for World War II action. However, whereas most franchises would be content to not stir the pot by going in a new direction, the team at Infinity Ward has done just that with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. As the name implies, the game takes the battle away from World War II and puts it in the middle of modern combat, utilizing a fictional war in order to convey the game’s plot elements.

Treyarch has been on the short side of the development cycle for a while. Turnaround times for its release of off-year Call of Duty titles really prevented the company from putting its own stamp on the series. So what happens when it gets a full development cycle, and doesn’t have to reinvent the wheel in terms of a game engine. Call of Duty World at War is what happens.
Built on the CoD4 engine, Treyarch has had the opportunity to focus on the gameplay. CoD 4 was a journey into the modern world. For WaW, Treyarch went back to World War II but instead of focusing on the European Theater, the dev team expanded that to play the game – through scenarios – on two fronts. Players will be immersed in the Pacific Theater in the war against the Japanese Imperial Army, and will be part of the Russian push toward Berlin.
For the most part, you will play the game as a Marine private, or a Russian sniper. Once the game departs from those predominate scenarios to allow you to play the gunner on an aircraft, but as much as hopping from gun to gun and blasting boats is fun, this almost seems like an afterthought rather than a mission that integrates the other elements well.
