Since the 15th century, an area of the Atlantic Ocean between Bermuda, Puerto Rico and Fort Lauderdale has mysteriously claimed an untold number of ships, planes and lives. Even today, the region remains a serious danger to travellers –there were three reported incidents in 2004 alone. Perhaps the most famous case was that of Flight 19 –a group of American bombers that went missing in December 1945, while training over the Atlantic. The bombers encountered unusual phenomena and irregular compass readings, despite the clemency of the weather and the experience of the pilots. When the five planes failed to return, the Navy’s official report could not explain the incident, attributing the disappearance to “causes or reasons unknown”.
Also known as the Devil’s Triangle, the area has been the subject of conspiracy theories and paranormal speculation for over half a century. Some of the more bizarre theories have suggested the involvement of giant sea creatures, UFOs and portals to different dimensions. A more scientific explanation, meanwhile, has pointed towards the existence of huge fields of methane hydrates on the continental shelves which alter the density of the surrounding water and air. No theory, however, has been proven.
Using the latest scientific knowledge and investigative techniques, the programme examines this enduring riddle and sheds light on the mystery surrounding its reputation. Through high-tech computer graphics, lavish recreations and underwater footage, the documentary brings the most famous accidents to life while investigating the possible causes and offering new explanations. On-camera interviews with both sceptics and believers help lay out the facts and myths of the cases. Can the latest scientific techniques finally lay to rest the mysteries of the Triangle?

The Bermuda Triangle: Beneath the Waves

Dive to the Bermuda Triangle

Over the years, hundreds of ships and planes have gone missing in the area of the Atlantic Ocean between Bermuda, Puerto Rico and Fort Lauderdale. One of the most famous disappearances occurred in December 1945, when Flight 19, consisting of five US Navy bombers, vanished while on a training exercise.
One explanation for the mysterious disappearance of entire ships could be large pockets of gas which are common on the sea bed in the area. When the gas rises to the surface they dissolve in the water, decreasing the buoyancy of ships and causing them to sink.
Este un alt film despre descifrarea secretului Triunghiului Bermudelor, cel putin la fel de interesant ca cele postate anterior. Sper sa va placa!
