| In 1864 Major Amos Dundee leads his troops into Mexico after a group of renegade Apache Indians, led by Sierra Chariba. On a recent raid, they kidnapped some young boys and Dundee is committed to retrieving them. His own Union troops are supplemented by Confederate prisoners of war. Led by Lt. Benjamin Tyree - he and Dundee were once friends - he gives his word that he will follow Dundee's orders until Chariba is caught. Over the course of several months, Dundee and his men not only have to fight the Apaches but also French troops. As the mission continues, tensions rise between the Union and Confederate troops leading to a final confrontation with their foe. |

Bugetul primului film al lui Sam Peckinpah a fost redus mult, fiind realizata atunci o versiune micsorata.
Dar acum, dupa 40 de ani, majoritatea cadrelor taiate au fost readuse in prim plan, folosindu-se integral coloana sonora remixata in 5.1 Dolby Digital, compunandu-se astfel un film cu totul nou.
Scenele noi completeaza povestea electrizanta a unui ofiter obsedat (Charlton Heston) care conduce un detasament de prizonieri rebeli (Richard Harris), fosti detinuti si criminali (James Coburn) din Mexic, care urmaresc o alta banda de criminali... - ridicandu-se astfel intrebarea: cine reprezinta o amenintare mai mare?
Beneficiand de una dintre cele mai bune distributii pentru un film western, “Major Dundee” este un film American clasic autentic, prezentat in cele din urma exact asa cum intentiona regizorul sau!
