Plot:On the Christmas Eve of 1914, in the Western Front in France in World War I, the Scottish, the German and the French troops have a moment of truce and share moments of peace and friendship. When the soprano Anna Sorensen succeeds in convincing the Prussian Prince to join her tenor husband Nikolaus Sprink to sing for the German high command, Sprink brings her to the front to sing for his comrades in the trench. The Scottish Lieutenant Gordon and the French Lieutenant Audebert have an informal and unauthorized meeting with the German Lieutenant Horstmayer and negotiate a truce for that night, and the priest Palmer celebrates a mass for the soldiers. When their superiors become aware of the event, they have to pay for the consequence of their acts.

Filmul este inspirat dupa o poveste adevarata, care s-a petrecut in Ajunul Craciunului in 1914, in timpul Primului Razboi Mondial in multe locuri diferite de-a lungul liniei frontului.
Cand a izbucnit razboiul in vara lui 1914, a luat prin surprindere milioane de barbati si i-a aruncat in vartejul lui. A venit Craciunul, cu zapada, si o multime de familii si soldati s-au reunit. Dar surpriza nu va veni din inimile generoase care stau in transeele franceze, scotiene sau germane.
In acea noapte, un eveniment extraordinar va schimba destinul a patru personaje: un preot scotian, un locotenent francez un tenor german deosebit si iubita acestuia si partenera de scena, o minunata soprana daneza. Ei se vor afla in miezul unei fraternizari fara precedent intre trupele germane, britanice si franceze.
In acel Ajun de Craciun inimaginabilul s-a intamplat: armele au fost lasate in transee si s-au facut pasi catre "inamici" pentru a le strange mainile, a schimba tigari sau cate o bucatica de ciocolata si a-si ura unul altuia "Craciun Fericit!"...
