America's Army has a lot going for it. First of all, it's a fully fleshed out FPS with great multiplayer - and it's free. It's developed by the U.S. Army, so it's a very accurate simulation. The weapons in particular are extremely accurate, modeled after actual weapons currently in use by the Army. Each has the proper kick for a very realistic feel, guns even jam sometimes. And crouching or going prone improves your aim considerably.
The realism is so thorough, in fact, that some elements can become a little annoying. If you think you can just install the game and jump right into the action, forget it. You're required to complete your training (tutorials) before you see any combat. Some lessons -- obstacle course, firing range, parachuting -- are fun. But you'll also have to attend several classes where you must sit and listen to the instructor while he yammers on about, say, the proper way to perform CPR. If you can get through all of that, though, you'll have a great time in single- and multiplayer modes. If you've ever considered enlisting, it behooves you to give this thing a spin before signing up for boot camp.

America's Army 2.8.3
The newest release of America's Army is version 2.8.3 Special Forces (Overmatch).
In America's Army: Special Forces, players attempt to earn Green Beret status by completing individual and collective training missions drawn from the Special Forces Assignment and Selection (SFAS) process.
Players who complete the SFAS process have the opportunity to take on elite Special Forces roles and are qualified to play in multiplayer missions with units ranging from the elite 82d Airborne Division to the 75th Ranger Regiment.
Includes the complete game America’s Army: Operations.
