Starcraft:
StarCraft este un joc de strategie īn timp real (RTS) produs de firma Blizzard Entertainment. Apărut īn 1998 pentru PC, jocul a fost portat mai apoi pentru Macintosh şi Nintendo 64.
Peste 9 milioane de copii ale jocului au fost vāndute de la apariţia sa. A fost cel mai vāndut joc al anului 1998 şi a cāştigat "Origins Award" pentru cel mai bun joc de strategie al acelui an. Este foarte popular, mai ales īn Coreea de Sud, unde jucători profesionişti primesc sponsorizări şi participă la meciuri televizate.
Subiectul jocului este un război īntre trei rase galactice: Terran (oamenii), Zerg (o rasă artropoidă condusă de un "creier" colectiv) şi Protoss (o rasă umanoidă avansată tehnologic).
Povestea se extinde pe durata a şase campanii (numite şi episoade), fiecare campanie centrāndu-se pe una din cele trei rase. Mare parte din acţiunea jocului se petrece īn Sectorul Koprulu, o regiune a galaxiei colonizată de oameni exilaţi īn secolul al XXIII-lea. Acţiunea propriu-zisă īncepe, īnsă, īn 2499.

StarCraft: Brood War
is an expansion pack for the award winning military science fiction real-time strategy video game StarCraft. Released in 1998 for the Windows and Mac OS, it was co-developed by Saffire and Blizzard Entertainment. The expansion pack introduced new campaigns with new map tilesets and new music, in addition to a number of extra units for each race along with several upgrade advancements. The campaigns continue the story from where the original StarCraft ended,[1] with the sequel StarCraft II continuing from after the conclusion of Brood War. The expansion was released for the PC and Mac OS in the USA on 30 November 1998.[2]

Feature Changes
- In-game Speed Options menu now has a "Enable CPU Throttling" checkbox.
Enabling this option will allow StarCraft to consume fewer CPU cycles. By
default this option is off.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue with the reply feature where any character followed by a "r "
was being treated as a reply.
- Removed an unnecessary delay when processing palette cycling updates.
- Lessened the imposed delay in the CPU Throttling feature.
