Getting the strings from the game

Bring-up the Memory editos of your choice, and make it listen to the NFS.EXE, this is illustrated in the image below

Now the program will track the strings inside our Need For Speed-game.

3) Searching for a specific string

Now we need a point in the game where it is possible to see the money we have, and spend them. We are doing this to track down where in the game memory the footprint for the money are hidden. In the game go into:  Career -> Continue and from there get to your overview map and turn to your garage screen.

Check your money

I can see that i currently have 808649 in cash right now. I write that down and open my Memory Editor and search for a string containing “808649″ and press search.

Memory searching

For me, only 3 adresses turns up. You will get a different number of answers depending on the number.

Now you open up your game, make a new blueprint for you car and spend some cash on some part that you can afford, update the blueprint and go back to the garage shown in the in-game screenshot above.

Now i go check how much money i now have

I have 741749 in cash now after spending them. Now i would go into my Memory Editor program and search again for that string.

IMPORTANT: Keep doing this until you only get two strings returned in your Memory Editor.  Like mine:

Right-click on both those values and set them to the same amount. I set both of the strings to “999999″. And then i am opening up the game again. Go in and out of the garage, and when you come back you should have your desired amount of money, like in my screenshot:

The cheat worked!

Go get some nice cars now!
