The Godfather (1972)
The film begins at the wedding of Don Vito Corleone's daughter Connie to Carlo Rizzi in New York City in late summer of 1945. Because "no Sicilian can refuse a request on his daughter's wedding day", Corleone, known to his friends and associates as "Godfather", and Tom Hagen (the Corleone family consigliere, or counselor) are preoccupied with hearing requests from friends and associates. Meanwhile, the Don's youngest son Michael, who has returned from World War II service as a highly decorated war hero, tells his girlfriend Kay Adams anecdotes about his father's criminal life, reassuring her that he is not like his family.

The Godfather 2 (1974)
The Godfather Part II presents two parallel storylines. One involves Mafia chief Michael Corleone during the Cold War, following the events of the first movie; the other is a series of flashbacks following his father, Vito Corleone, from his childhood in Sicily (1901) to his founding of the Corleone family in New York City while still a young man (1917-1925).

The Godfather 3 (1990)
The movie begins in 1979, with a brief flashback establishing the long and tragic history of criminal activity within, and by, the Corleone family. Much has changed. Michael Corleone is now older and feels tremendous guilt for indulging in his ruthless ambition many years ago. Although his previous conquests have made him a very rich man, the thoughts of his children, their future, happiness, and his legacy are the only things keeping him going. His adopted brother Tom Hagen is now dead. The Corleone compound at Lake Tahoe is abandoned. His wife Kay has divorced him, and Michael has relinquished control of his children to her. Michael has returned to New York City, where he is using his enormous wealth and power to restore his dignity and reputation in the eyes of the public. The violent criminal element of the Corleone family has been largely abandoned, ostracized by Michael as well as the public, which no longer romanticizes the gangster lifestyle. Michael has embraced corporate America, which is now more tolerant of Michael's nihilism, where he is able to rebuild the Corleone family as a legitimate enterprise using the blood money from his gangster years. The aging thugs and sociopathic soldiers from Michael's past have either gone into the underground, or have been relegated to the background, serving as bodyguards for Michael and his family. Michael now struggles between repairing his fragile relationships while trying to contain the violent sociopaths that are still a part of his decaying criminal empire. In an attempt to break with the past, Michael creates a charity, the Vito Corleone Foundation, in memory of his father. At a ceremony in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, presided over by Archbishop Gilday, Michael is awarded the Order of St. Sebastian. Kay, who has remarried, sits with Michael's children, Anthony Corleone and Mary Corleone.

Inspirat de romanul lui Mario Puzo, filmul este povestea grandioasa a lui Don Vito Corleone, un mafiot din Sicilia, ajuns cap al unei importante retele mafiote in America. Filmul prezinta o viziune extrem de realista a acestei lumi mai putin accesibile unde cuvantul dat si promisiunile facute au o valoare capitala, iar onoarea este la mare pret. Din pacate pentru el, in momentul in care viata ii este pusa in pericol, copii sai nu mai pot sa stea departe de pericole, fiind antrenati si ei in acest joc extrem de riscant al luptelor intre clanurile mafiote din America. Respect, crima, bani si, mai presus de toate, putere: acestea sunt cuvintele care definesc cel mai bine acest film si actiunea sa care a facut lumea filmului sa vuiasca.

În ceea ce fără îndoială este una dintre cele mai bune continuări de film din toate timpurile, Francis Ford Coppola duce mai departe povestea de proporții epice a trilogiei Godfather cu această saga despre două generații din familia Corleone aflate la putere. Coppola colaborează încă o dată cu scriitorul Mario Puzo, șlefuind două povești întrețesute, care funcționează în egală măsură ca preambul și continuare a originalului. Prima prezintă umilele începuturi ale clanului sicilian și ascensiunea în New York a tânărului Don Vito, interpretat acum într-un rol secundar premiat cu Oscar de Robert De Niro. A doua prezintă ascensiunea lui Michael (Al Pacino), noul Don al clanului. Reunind mulți dintre actorii care au lucrat la The Godfather, Coppola a produs un film de o magnitudine și viziune uluitoare. Producția a fost nominalizată la 11 Premii Oscar, dintre care a primit șase - inclusiv Oscarul pentru “Cel mai bun film” al anului 1974.

Una dintre cele mai interesante saga din istoria filmului continuă!
În această ultimă parte a trilogiei despre familia Corleone, Al Pacino joacă rolul lui Michael, liderul puternic al familiei. La cei 60 de ani ai săi, Michael e dominat de două pasiuni: să-și elibereze familia de crime și să găsească un succesor potrivit.
Succesorul ar putea fi pătimașul Vincent (Andy Garcia), dar el ar putea fi, de asemenea, și cel care schimbă dorința lui Michael de a face afaceri legale într-un infern al violenței.
