The Zone is a 30 kilometer radius around the ruined Chernobyl atomic power plant where the laws of man and nature no longer apply. The devastation of the accident years ago has created an ungovernable garden of evil, filled with mutant animals and humans, trigger-happy competitors, poisonous fogs, and deadly gravitational anomalies. You play as a stalker, one who travels into the Zone to collect anomalous formations for underground dealers and scientists in research camps on the Zone border. The money you receive for doing this will provide you with a means for purchasing equipment, weapons and protective suits allowing him to reach previously inaccessible areas.
This combination first-person shooter and role-playing game will have players gathering experience naturally as they fight for their lives. Territory in the Zone--derelict with neglected underground and aboveground laboratories, dead military bases and proving grounds for new technologies--has been imagined with a faithfully recreated Chernobyl atomic facility at its center. Players will communicate with game characters to find out important information, acquire tasks, trade or make deals to accomplish a task co-operatively. Apart from humans, the player will also be able to communicate with sapient mutant creatures.
Product Description
Stalker: Shadow Of Chernobyl takes you into a near future where nuclear disaster has taken place. When a strange second explosion at the old Chernobyl site rocks the landscape, it leaves a vast "Exclusion Zone" plagued with deadly energy disturbances in its wake. The quarantined Exclusion Zone expanded over time, and by 2012, specially equipped poachers, known as S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s, venture into the Zone to claim radioactive artifacts for the black market. You are a new S.T.A.L.K.E.R. battling for survival among rivals, soldiers and mutant creatures while trying to discover the true nature of Chernobyl's dark past and horrific future.
