"From the start, you can tell Planescape: Torment kicks ass. It drags you in from the start. You wake up in a mortuary on a stone tablet surrounded by Zombies and a talking skull, and you don't even remember your own name. You are set off trying to find out who you are and so on. The plot line might sound a little stupid, but you'll wind up being so involved in it that you'll end up hopelessly addicted after your first hours of play.
"Things just get better after this. The dialogue is great, there are plenty of spells, and if you know what you have to do, you can do it. An interesting feature is that Nameless One, your main PC, is immortal. He can be killed, but most of the time he will be resurrected..."
"Torment's graphics are excellent for 2D sprites. The characters look realistic and the spell effects are awe-inspiring. One draw back is that, like most games, the characters in the towns look pretty much like all the other characters in the town..."

Planescape: Torment (PST) is the newest Computer Role Playing Game (CRPG) from the people who brought you Baldur’s Gate, Tales of the Sword Coast, Fallout, Fallout 2, and the upcoming Neverwinter Nights and Icewind Dale. This is an RPG pedigree of the highest order and it shows. PST takes place in Sigil, the City of Doors. Think the crossroads of the universe. This is where races, gods and mortals mix. For those familiar with Baldur’s Gate, you will find much that is familiar and a fair amount that has been tweaked and refined. For those who have never played a CRPG, this is a great one to start on."
"The graphic design is simply amazing. The colour palette is varied and gorgeous. The buildings all have a ‘cool’ factor to them. Character animation is great and the bored animations are worth letting nothing happen just to see them. Morte has some great lines which are worth the price of admission alone. The females in the game are, uh, a little more, hmm, buoyant, and scantily clad than the real world would have, but all in all not too bad."
