Kevin Costner si Whitney Houston se afla in fruntea acestui film care a avut un imens succes de box-office si a lasat in urma cel putin o melodie celebra - "I will always love you", remake al originalul cantat de Dolly Parton. Whitney Houston joaca rolul unui superstar din lumea muzicii care incepe sa primeasca telefoane de amenintare si este convinsa sa-si angajeze un bodyguard.
Aici intra in actiune Frank Farmer (Kevin Costner), care imediat ce devine garda de corp a celebrei cantarete, instituie un regim de securitate in jurul ei. Fost agent CIA, Costner resimte inca socul neputintei de a-l apara pe presedintele Regan de cel care incercase sa il asasineze (in scenariul original, bodyguardul trebuia sa il apere pe presedintele asasinat Kennedy, la Dallas, dar Costner era prea tanar la ora filmarilor ca acest lucru sa fie plauzibil). Treptat, dar inevitabil, Costner si Huston se indragostesc. Insa, diferentele dintre ei sunt prea mari...
