Fenomenul mondial numit Downton Abbey își face intrarea grandioasă pe marile ecrane. Famila Crawley și angajații lor se pregătesc pentru cel mai important moment din viața lor: vizita regelui și a reginei. Vizita alaiului regal va declanșa scandaluri, va face să se înfiripe iubiri, va lăsa în urmă intrigi care vor pune sub semnul întrebării viitorul conacului Downton.

Filmul este regizat de Michael Engler, după un scenariu scris de creatorul serialului de televiziune, Julian Fellowes, și îi are în distribuție pe actorii care se regăsesc și în serial.
