Supervedeta Dwayne Johnson se află în fruntea distribuției noii producții marca Legendary - Infernul din zgârie-nori, în rolul fostului agent FBI și veteran de război, Will Sawyer, comandant al unității de negociatori pentru situații care implicau ostatici, care acum este consultant independent pentru securitatea clădirilor zgârie-nori. În cursul unei misiuni de consultanță în China, acesta se trezește implicat, fără voia lui, într-un incendiu catastrofal chiar în clădirea pe care fusese chemat să o inspecteze din punct de vedere a siguranței și securității. În scurt timp își dă seama că acest incendiu i se înscenase de către forțe necunoscute, așa că prioritatea lui acum este să afle cine și cu ce motiv îl voia mort, și să-și scoată și familia rămasă captivă în infernul dezlănțuit în acea clădire colosală.
