În Hotelul Transilvania lucrurile s-au schimbat puțin în ultima vreme: politica strictă a lui Dracula care acceptă doar monștri în hotel s-a mai relaxat, iar hotelul își deschide porțile și oamenilor. Dar în spatele cavourilor închise, Dracula este neliniștit deoarece adorabilul său nepot, jumătate vampir, jumătate om, Dennis, nu dă semne că ar fi și vampir.
Așa că, în timp ce Mavis își vizitează socrii umani (și are și ea parte de un șoc cultural), bunicul vampir Dracula își cheamă prietenii Frank, Murray, Wayne și Griffin pentru a-l supune pe Dennis unor antrenamente speciale. Însă nimeni nu știe că tatăl lui Drac, foarte bătrânul și morocănosul Vlad e pe cale să facă o vizită familiei. Când Vlad află ca strănepotul său nu este de sânge pur și că oamenii pot să stea acum la Hotel Transilvania, lucrurile o iau un pic razna.
