Ducând o viață singuratică în umbra puterii și a banilor, Norman Oppenheimer (Richard Gere) se folosește de orice legătură ca să se plaseze într-o poziție importantă. Este un oportunist, dar nu unul foarte bun.

Asta până când face o mișcare deșteaptă și îi cumpără o pereche de pantofi scumpi lui Micha Eshel (Lior Ashkenazi), un modest politician israelian. Când Misha devine prim-ministru, Norman se trezește în centrul unei drame geopolitice. Folosindu-se de talentele lui, Norman încearcă să rezolve un puzzle complex cu importante implicații.

Această călătorie a unui om comun este plină de momente amuzante, de dramă și prezintă drama unui bărbat scos din anonimitate și, totuși, prea mic pentru a fi prețuit.
