La început a fost o ocazie... apoi, o trădare. De atunci au trecut 20 de ani. S-au schimbat multe, dar tot atât de multe rămân neschimbate. Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) revine în singurul loc pe care-l poate numi „acasă”. Ei îl aşteaptă: Spud, Sick Boy şi Begbie.
Ceilalţi vechi prieteni ai săi îl aşteaptă şi ei: durerea, simţământul de pierdere, bucuria, răzbunarea, ura, prietenia, dragostea, dorul, teama, regretul, heroina, auto-distrugerea şi pericolul mortal, cu toţii stau aliniaţi pentru a-l întâmpina, gata să intre în horă.
T2 Trainspotting oferă şansa regizorului Danny Boyle, laureat al premiului Academiei, să se reîntâlnească cu distribuţia filmului iniţial, din 1996. John Hodge revine ca scenarist, inspirându-se din romanele lui Irvine Welsh, Porno şi Trainspotting.
