Īncepānd cu secolul XVII, epoca lui Petru cel Mare, şi pānă la căderea Uniunii Sovietice īn 1991, acest serial ilustrează fascinanta istorie a Rusiei pe parcursul secolelor. Se pune accentul pe evenimentele-cheie care au definit diferitele epoci ale acestui ţinut uriaş şi a căror rezonanţă este simţită chiar şi astăzi. Povestea este spusă prin intermediul istoriei a trei oraşe ruseşti importante: Sankt Petersburg, Volgograd (fost Stalingrad) şi Moscova. Aici se īngemănează puncte de cotitură īn politică şi război, poveşti despre eroi, invenţii şi descoperiri care au schimbat lumea. Pe scurt, vă sunt prezentate instantanee ale fericirii şi energiei debordante, dar şi ale unor tragedii umane şi drame de proporţii.
