Gustav (Maciej Stuhr) is a footloose and fancy-free party animal; Aniela Dobrojska (Anna Cieslak) is a young girl who has entered a pact with her cousin Klara (Marta Zmuda Trzebiatowska) never to marry, something that may have been plausible if it wasn't for her meddling mother and Gustav's uncle Radost. Mrs D has long had high hopes of finding someone worthy for her daughter to marry, while Radost is keen for Gustav to settle down, so they collude with one another to secure an engagement. Gustav becomes aware of their plans and is suddenly intrigued.
