In America anilor '50, stralucitoarea Anne Deveraux (Zellweger) se imbarca intr-o calatorie de-a lungul coastei de est in cautarea unui barbat care sa poata suporta financiar o noua viata pentru ea si fiii ei...

Filmul are la baza povestea copilariei si adolescentei lui George Hamilton, cunoscut actor si om de televiziune si mai cu seama prezinta viata mamei acestuia, in incercarea de a gasi un sot potrivit pentru ea si un tata bun pentru cei doi copii. Filmul ne conduce pe strazile Americii, din New York pana in Pittsburgh, mai apoi la St Louis pentru ca in final familia sa ajunga in Hollywood, unde exista speranta unui nou inceput. Vor reusi cei trei sa ia viata de la capat?
