Teen Species: Girls (2002)

This three part Learning Channel production reviews the physical and psychological challenges faced by teenagers. In this program experts and teenagers themselves explain the issues of puberty, maturation rates, early development and peer pressure. Produ ced and directed by Page Shepherd; narrated by Drew Pinsky.

Explore the modern definition of “teen-hood” with its lengthening span and the facts of female puberty. Meet Sharmaine, the classic difficult teenager; Claudia, a dancer whose physical maturation may determine her future on stage; Rebecca and Jessica, bright twins discovering boys and bras; and Alex, who faces the difficulty of developing early. There’s also a surprising revelation on the subject of “peer pressure”.
