Operation Barbarossa 1971
Hitler's decision to take on Russia and open up an Eastern front in June 1941 led to the biggest, bloodiest battle ever fought, costing the lives of at least 20 million people and ending Europe's dominance in world affairs. In sheer numbers, miles of front, and quantity of guns, shells, and tanks, no other battle in history can compare with it. Code named by the German Army "Operation Barbarossa", this film incorporates remarkable archival footage of the battle obtained from both sides along with notable eye-witness accounts from surviving members of Hitler's inner circle who helped plan and carry out the scheme.
