Purtând de unul singur războiul împotriva crimei organizate, intransigentul justițiar Frank Castle îl ia în vizor pe ticălosul cap al mafiei, Billy Russoti. După ce Russoti rămâne desfigurat în urma unei lupte cu Castle, el jură să se răzbune sub o altă identitate: Jigsaw.
