Sinopsis:
In 1944, un ofiter de marina japonez si un pilot al aviatiei americane esueaza pe o mica insula nelocuita din Pacificul de Sud. Desi dusmani, cei doi trebuie sa coopereze pentru a supravietui. Lee Marvin, un actor care reprezinta o imagine arhetipala a Americii, si Toshiro Mifune, o imagine arhetipala a Japoniei, realizeaza un "duel" cinematografic antologic.
