If official documentation didn't exsist, we'd never believe a fantastic yarn and amazing recounting of real-life events like I was Monty's Double.

At the height of World War 11 an actor, M.E Clifton James, was seconded to impersonate General Mongomery. Trained by Major Harvey (John Mills) to imitate Montgomery to the last detail, Harvey then sends the actor on a tour of North Africa to divert the Germans attention away from the real "Monty".

An ingenious idea, treated here with a blend of wry humour and total conviction by director John Guillermin. M.E Clifton James recreates his real-life role and holds his own against a formidable cast including Leslie Philips, Byran Forbes (who also scripted) and John Le Mesurier.
