A cynical samurai is left as the sole survivor to fulfil a plot to assassinate the puppet of a villain intent on usurping the shogunate in the 17th century.

The audience identification figure is Jinbo , a young swordsman whose wife was needlessly killed by an overzealous battalion of government forces hunting for dissenters. On the run and alone, Jinbo initially crosses paths with a shabby, hedonistic ronin (Hira, who played the lead of Hideo Gosha's Sword of the Beast the following year) who has turned his back on society and politics. After spending a night at his hide-out, Jinbo leaves him, disgusted at his apolitical stance, and goes in search of more likeminded company, eventually falling in with the aforementioned group of conspirators led by a wealthy patron.

Tips to watch subtitle .SUB and .IDX format :
VLC Media Player:
1. Keep all the files (.avi, .sub & .idx) in the same folder
2. Play normally with VLC media player , go to VIDEO on top of VLC and choose SUBTITLE TRACK at the dropdown menu and select the appropriate subtitle .
ConverXtoDVD:
1. “Add” the .AVI file from the movie folder into the ConvertXtoDVD (the .IDX and .SUB file extensions should follow automatically providing all of them have the same exact file name). For non techie : FILE-NAME.FILE-EXTENSION
2. “Convert” and “Burn” normally
3. Use the button on your DVD or the remote control to select the appropriate subtitle for your viewing.
