Filmul este povestea a patru orfani nu foarte tineri: unul crescut de un curator de la Luvru (acolo unde bantuie un asasin albinos), unul este un refugiat din Mexic, a treia este victima recenta a unui avion cu serpi, iar al patrulea – un rezident “normal” al unei comunitati de mutanti “X”. Cei patru viziteaza o fabrica de ciocolata, unde dau peste un dulap fermecat, care le permite intrarea pe taramul Gnarniei. Aici se intalnesc cu un capitan pirat si cu niste studenti constiinciosi ai unei scoli de vrajitorie si toti isi unesc fortele pentru a o invinge pe Vrajitoarea Alba din Gnarnia.
