PLOT:

Bounty hunter Jack Walsh is sent to find and return bail jumper and former Mafia accountant, Jonathan "The Duke" Mardukas. The FBI have had no success it locating The Duke, so when Jack finds him in next to no time, they are a little embarrassed. In order to collect his $100,000 fee, Jack must take The Duke from New York to Los Angeles. However, the Mafia and the FBI have other ideas, as does Marvin, a rival bounty hunter. On their long cross-country trip to LA, the two get to know each other and they build up a strange friendship.

Cursa de la miezul noptii este primul film in care De Niro isi demonstreaza din plin si valentele comice. Alaturi de Charles Grodin, actor de comedie consacrat, marele actor face un rol memorabil in pielea unui vanator de recompense, pe nume Jack Walsh, iute de manie si cu replici savuroase. Lui Walsh i se ofera 100 000 de dolari pentru a-l aduce pe fugarul hot Mardukas unui client pagubit. Ceea ce credea ca va fi o sarcina de rutina se va transforma pentru Jack Walsh intr-o aventura care ii va pune la incercare nervii, umorul negru si spiritul de supravietuire. Imediat dupa ce il captureaza, incep sa apara greutatile.

Mardukas a omis sa-i spuna toata povestea. El datoreaza 15 milioane de dolari unui cap mafiot care a pus un pret pe capul sau. Din acest moment lucrurile o iau razna, secventele de urmarire si scenele de infruntare intre cele doua parti alternand cu dialogurile absolut nebune dintre Walsh si Mardukas.
